Day 1: Ha Noi – Thac Ba (170km)

Thac Ba lake motorbike tours
Thac Ba lake motorbike tours

In the morning we start our motorbike tour by leaving Hanoi on dyke roads to avoid the heavy traffic and breaking out of the delta plains. We head out of Hanoi skirting along Red River to Phu Tho and then ride through peaceful countryside along Da river‘s bank. We stop for lunch at noon then keep riding till Yen Bai province and stop for a night in a lovely homestay nearby Thac Ba lake where has a small resort of Dao ethnic people. Before having dinner with local family of Dao and drink local wine together, we take a boat trip along the lake and swim or dive into the crystal blue water.

Day 2: Thac Ba – Ha Giang city (150km)

After breakfast, we take a motor ride on the track up to Ha Giang city via Tuyen Quang province.

After lunch, join the less travelled route along Lo river to Ha Giang City, where we stop for the night in ethnic nice homestay and apply for a permit.

Day 3: Ha Giang – Dong Van (Ha Giang) (160km)

After getting the permit for motorbike tour in border areas at Ha Giang’s Immigration Police, we ride on small challenging mountain roads (but incredibly beautiful) on the land of colorful mountain hill-tribes.

Ride on a zig-zag track until reaching Vuong Family’s Residence, 14 kms before Dong Van.

Vuong Family was considered the King of the Hmong People in Dong Van, Ha Giang. Their residence was built in the scenic valley of Sa Phin with Chinese architecture. The whole house was built out of wood and rock only.

The rocks for the buildings were imported from China. Vuong Family Residence is a masterpiece of man work in the valley of heavenly beauty of Sa Phin. This is a remote area and we can meet the hard-working local people here. It is inspiring to see how they survive as they manage live in the rocks.

When we reach Dong Van Town we will have some extra time to wonder the ancient streets lined with H’mong homes of clay bricks and tiles roofs built centuries ago.

Day 4: Dong Van discovery – Meo Vac (40km)

Today is a relaxing and worthy day to ride around the town, trek and meet the local in remote tribal villages to know more about their local life and take a boat trip in Nho Que river to Tu San canyon – biggest one in Southeast Asia.

Motorcycle up the Ma Pi Leng Pass. Here is yet another amazing place, with cloudy mountain ranges and the poetic Nho Que river winding off in the distance.

It is really difficult to find the exact words to describe Ma Pi Leng Pass, located between Dong Van and Meo Vac, near the northernmost tip of Vietnam, as a painting of astonishing beauty and magnificence that captures the eyes of all viewers and nature lovers.

Day 5: Meo Vac – Bao Lac (120 km)

Meo Vac to Bao Lac is another amazing ride. The motorbike ride in the morning is still winding along the Rock Plateau, enjoy slowly Vietnam motorbike tour on some beautiful mountain passes and we stop for lunch. Then, we will motorcycle downhill along the river and see the different mountain view (less rocky and more green). Bamboo raft to arrive in Bao Lac town at 4 PM. Hotel stay in Bao Lac.

Day 6: Bao Lac – Cao Bang (150km)

Say good bye to Bao Lac, our Vietnam motorbike riding team moves

to Cao Bang. When we already ride out of Bao Lac, we ride towards Cao Bang city with the significant chances of the scenery.

We stop for lunch whenever we see any sights of street restaurants. After that, Cao Bang will be the next stop for our stunning Northeast Vietnam motorbike adventure.

This night, Northeast Loop Bike Tour will stay in a lovely hotel in Cao Bang before motobiking to Ban Gioc waterfall.

Day 7: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc – Cao Bang (180km)

After breakfast, we ride to Ban Gioc. Ban Gioc is one of Vietnam’s best-known waterfalls. It’s a very scenic spot, marking the border with China but it sees very few visitors. The name Ban Gioc is derived from the Montagnard languages spoken in the area and is sometimes spelled Ban Doc.

The waterfall is the largest, although not the highest, in the country. The vertical drop is 53 meters but it has an impressive 300 meters span which one end of the falls is in China and the other is in Vietnam. The falls have three levels creating a sort of giant staircase and there’s enough water anytime, most years, to make the trip worthwhile. Just enjoy the time by short walking and picnic around this land to savor the natural charms. You can swim in the natural pool nearby the waterfall, take the photos or just simply admire the view of surrounding areas.

Then, getting out of Ban Gioc, we will motorcycle back to Cao Bang where we stay to head to Ba Be tomorrow.

Day 8: Cao Bang – Ba Be lake (Bac Can province) (150km)

ba be lake

After breakfast, just after 20km from Bao Lac we turn to narrow road with breathtaking view of terrace rice paddies, rivers and mountains. Finish the memorable riding day with lunch in a peaceful village of Tay people nearby Ba be lake. It’s time for relaxing on one of the most beautiful and biggest natural lake in Vietnam in the afternoon.

Day 9: Ba Be – Ha Noi (240km)

For a short sightseeing tour of the northeast area, a fantastic place is Ba Be National Park in Ba Be District, Bac Kan Province. We motorbike around the lake’s bank to enjoy a wide range of flora and fauna, as well as interesting geology and landscapes and also admire old stilt houses to learn more about culture and daily life of Tay people.

Then, stay off the main road for as long as possible we head back towards the Red River Delta, pass through areas inhabited by Hmong, Dao, Tay and Nung minority peoples. Lunch at noon on the way. A mixture of both challenging track and glorious sealed road are all the way back to Hanoi. The stunning Northeast Vietnam motorcycle tour will end safely in Hanoi before rush hours. Tour ends.
